Personal Debit/ATM Cards

Why can I use my debit card when the clerk keys the information in, but it doesn't work when I swipe it?

Category: Personal   Service: Debit/ATM Cards | Updated: April 4th, 2023

Answer:

If your debit card is accepted when it is keyed in but not when it is swiped, the problem is with the magnetic strip. There is damage to the strip that will not allow it to be read by a swipe. To request a replacement card, contact your local branch or the Client Support Center at 855-342-3400 Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time, and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time.
