Living Our Social Values

We are more than just a bank — we are a trusted community partner. Drawing on our Mission, Vision, Values, and strength, First Interstate provides stability and resources to our employees, clients, and communities.

First Interstate is proud to support our neighbors in need. In fact, it’s one of our core values. Our team members — especially those on the front lines serving clients — keep an ear to the ground to learn where the greatest needs are in their own areas. We continue to offer our team members discretion in directing sponsorships, donations, and volunteer hours to the unique needs within their community. These Commitment to Community “champions” are laser-focused on helping ensure local organizations stretch the dollars, time, and resources they receive.

Caring for Community Every Day

First Interstate distributes at least 2% of pretax earnings to charitable organizations across our footprint. We use a collaborative decision-making process, enabling our people to channel resources to the areas that need them most. When we saw COVID-19’s effect on our communities, First Interstate took action by offering continued financial and philanthropic support. The Bank continues to multiply the impact of time and money donated by employees through gift and volunteer matching, directly benefitting the regions we serve.

Promoting Financial Literacy

First Interstate believes education is the key to making sound financial decisions, and we are dedicated to providing our communities with opportunities to learn. We also believe it is never too late to learn, so our programs reach everyone from school-aged children to the elderly.

Commitment to Community

Although many of our efforts to support service organizations are driven by local employees, First Interstate regularly rallies our entire employee base to help fill universal needs. Volunteer Day serves as a perfect example. On September 8, 2021, First Interstate held its fourth annual Volunteer Day. Employees from all locations volunteered with local nonprofits, either in-person (when safe to do so) or virtually. In total, more than 1,800 employees took part, tallying 6,423 volunteer hours and benefitting more than 230 organizations across our footprint.
