Do I need a personal identification number (PIN) to make a purchase with my chip or contactless credit card?

Category: Business   Service: Credit Cards | Updated: August 1st, 2023

Answer:

Your credit card is a Chip card, so in most instances, you should not need a personal identification number (PIN) to make purchases with your card. When traveling inside or outside the US, there are some merchants that may require a PIN. Pins are required on your card when used at an ATM for cash and some unattended terminals (such as public transportation kiosks or gas pumps).

A PIN is automatically mailed to you when the account is opened. For your convenience, you can change your PIN by calling 1-866-297-3408 or by logging into www.ezcardinfo.com. Once updated, the new PIN will be ready for immediate use.
