Supporting our Neighbors in Need with Disaster Relief
Earlier this month several parts of Montana were ravaged by extreme flooding. It was particularly devastating in several counties, most especially in Stillwater, Carbon, and Park. Many homes, businesses and infrastructure were destroyed during this natural disaster that is being called the 500-year flood. In response to the suffering and hardship related to this event, the First Interstate BancSystem Foundation made three $10,000 gifts to disaster relief funds in each of these communities—$30,000 total. These gifts were presented to the Carbon County Disaster Relief Fund, the Absarokee Community Foundation, and the Park County Community Foundation/Southwest Montana Flood Relief Fund. Although the water is receding, the devastation remains.
“Last week when visiting Carbon County with a check to assist local residents, there were tears of gratitude. These friends and neighbors are rallying around each other and providing a great deal of support, however, the need for financial assistance remains great.” said Amberly Pahut, Executive Director of the First Interstate Foundation.
First Interstate is proud to be among a group of community leaders committed to supporting our friends and neighbors during this difficult time. Anyone interested in making a donation to support these organizations may do so at their local Montana First Interstate branch.
