Personal Credit Cards

Are there instances where I could experience issues using my EMV (Europay, Mastercard, or Visa) chip credit card abroad?

Answer:

When traveling outside the U.S., some card readers at unattended terminals (such as public transportation kiosks and gas pumps) will require a PIN. In these situations, enter your credit card PIN.

Depending on location, some international self-service terminals only accept U.S.-issued cards (toll booths, subways, etc.). Please locate an attended terminal to complete your transaction or plan for an alternative payment method, such as local currency.
