ABA Recognizes First Interstate for Financial Education Work

The American Bankers Association (ABA) has recognized First Interstate for our work in financial education, awarding us an Honorable Mention in the Financial Education category of its 2024 Community Commitment Awards.

This recognition highlights our ongoing efforts to make financial literacy accessible and approachable — especially in low-to-moderate-income areas and underbanked communities.

Programs That Make a Difference

We submitted our full financial education program for consideration, which includes:

  • Participation in ABA Financial Education campaigns
  • Safe Banking for Seniors
  • Teach Children to Save
  • Get Smart About Credit
  • Mini Bank program
  • Piggy Bank contests
  • EVERFI for employee and public education
  • “Let’s Talk” financial education series

Each initiative is designed to help clients and community members build financial confidence and make informed decisions. Our goal is to break down barriers and create new opportunities — especially for individuals facing generational poverty or limited access to financial services.

By the Numbers

In 2023, our bankers delivered:

  • More than 520 financial education presentations
  • Outreach to 10,865 attendees
  • Distribution of over 6,300 informational packets

We’re proud of these numbers — and we’re working to expand our reach even further in 2024.
