Automated Phone Scam
January 06, 2014
First Interstate Bank has received a scam notice that some customers are getting automated phone messages alerting them to a problem with their cards. Messages are reported to be coming from two distinct numbers: 877-277-3125 and 253-637-27XX. The first number has been known to be associated with scams being perpetrated across the country.
Customers have received varied messages, including (but not limited to):
- “Card blocked for possible fraudulent activity.”
- “Card was locked.”
- “Card was deactivated and to reactivate press 1.”
- “Merchant account locked.”
Please do not share any personal or account information over the phone. This is a phishing scam and First Interstate Bank would never ask customers for information via phone message. If you have received a similar message to the ones described, ignore it and delete it from your phone. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local First Interstate Bank branch or our Corporate Security office at 406-237-2702.
