New Text Message Scam
November 25, 2013
First Interstate Bank has received notification that some customers are receiving scam text messages indicating a problem with their Prepaid Debit Card. These messages direct customers to call the following number: 865-856-1548. The sender of the text message comes across from email@example.com.
A sample of the text message being received is “AchieveCardPrepaidDebitCardAlert.Call: 8658561548.” Currently the phishing scam is being randomly sent to customers in the Billings area, as well as other towns in the state of Montana. This could change to include expanded areas, however.
Please do not disclose your card number or provide any personal/account information over the phone. First Interstate Bank would never contact customers over text message to ask for such information. If you have any questions about this or any other text message scams, please contact your local First Interstate Bank branch or our Corporate Security office at 406-237-2702.
