Text Message Scam (Account Issues)
March 25, 2013
First Interstate Bank employees and customers have been receiving scam text messages from XXXXvtext.com, where XXXX can be any random number. Below is a sample of the text message:
This number has been associated with previous similar fraud attempts and is a known fraud number.
The message does not specifically reference First Interstate accounts. Instead, the scammers keep it generic so the recipient assumes it is their bank account that has an issue. The scammers are most likely just texting large blocks of phone numbers rather than targeting First Interstate or its customers.
Please be on the lookout for this scam and do not call the phone number provided. Also remember that the sender’s address and any phone numbers associated with the fraud can change quickly.
If you have any questions about this or any other suspected scams, please contact your local First Interstate Bank branch or our Corporate Security office at 406-237-2702.
