First Interstate Bank has been alerted to some fraudulent text messages being received by customers. The text messages are often received from email@example.com but the number could vary. The text message is similar to this:
Call 919.277.0663. Attention Requested
When you call the number, you receive an automated message indicating you have called a "24-hour banking service." The message implies one of your cards has been de-activated, telling you: "To easily reactivate a card you will need three pieces of information." The recording then asks for your 16 digit card number.
If you receive this text message, be advised that it is not from First Interstate Bank and is most likely a scam. Do not call the number on the text message or reveal your card or account information. First Interstate Bank already has customer information on file and would not request this information in this manner.
If you have any questions about this or any other suspected email or texting scams, please contact your local First Interstate Bank branch or our Corporate Security office at 406-237-2702.
