Effective March 31, 2023, checks, electronic payments, or received payments using old Great Western Bank (GWB) routing numbers will be returned. Clients must update their routing numbers immediately to ensure continued service.
To ease the transition from GWB to First Interstate, clients were temporarily permitted to continue using old GWB routing numbers for checks, electronic payments, and received payments. We must now retire those numbers and use First Interstate's routing number only (092901683).
The following GWB routing numbers will not be accepted in First Interstate's system after March 31, 2023:

- 273970365
- 104000702
- 073900975
- 073920845
- 107006004
- 291471066
Checks, electronic payments, or receive payments with the following routing numbers will continue to process after March 31, 2023:
- 091408734
- 291471134
Retirement for these routing numbers will be determined later in the year.
If you still need to order your First Interstate checks, revise your routing number, or update your electronic payments to the First Interstate routing number (092901683), please do so immediately. Failure to update your routing number after March 31, 2023, may disrupt service and return checks.
To order new checks, log in to Online Banking via firstinterstate.com to place an order. Once logged in, select "More" from the main menu, then select "Reorder Checks" from the drop-down list.
