It has recently been brought to our attention that several First Interstate clients are receiving texts alerting them their debit card is temporarily locked. Please be aware these texts are not from First Interstate Bank, but instead come from scammers.
The message in the text, and the number from which it is sent, is apt to change. Most recently, clients are asked to call a 1-800 number to unlock their card. Upon calling, they receive a computer-generated voice response with the greeting “Visa Card Customer Verification.” Then, clients are asked to provide sensitive account information, including their social security number.
If you receive a suspicious text, please do not respond. If you have already responded, please call our Client Contact Center at 855-342-3400, Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. MT (6:30 a.m. PT) to 7:00 p.m. MT (6 p.m. PT) and Saturday 10:00 a.m. MT (9:00 a.m. PT) to 2:00 p.m. MT (1:00 p.m. PT). If it is outside of our Contact Center hours, please call the number on the back of your debit card.
Please note, First Interstate will never call, text, or email you and ask for specific account information such as your account number, social security number, or PIN.
