Our Billings Heights (Montana) branch will be closed indefinitely due to a basement fire that occurred on March 28, 2017. We encourage our Heights’ clients to visit another First Interstate Bank location in Billings or utilize online/mobile banking for immediate banking needs. We are working to allow clients with safe deposit boxes access to their belongings once it is safe for people to enter the building.
Thanks to some quick-thinking employees, everyone in the branch at the time of the fire was immediately evacuated and safe. We are working with the Billings Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire and the extent/cost of the damage. Preliminary restoration steps to remove ash and smoke are underway. We do not have a timeline as to when the Heights branch will reopen for full banking services. We are extremely grateful to the Billings Fire Department, led by Fire Chief Paul Dextras, for their hard work and assistance throughout this ordeal.
