On June 3rd, First Interstate Bank will begin exclusively offering MasterCard debit card products to our personal and business customers. In addition to worldwide acceptance, MasterCard offers debit cardholders (with the exception of Health Savings Account debit cards and ATM cards) built-in benefits, including:
As part of this transition, existing First Interstate Bank VISA® debit cardholders will receive new MasterCard debit cards in the mail during the month of July. Reissued cards include Debit MasterCard®, World Debit™ MasterCard® (replaces the VISA® Platinum Card), Business Debit MasterCard®, and Health Savings Account Debit MasterCard®. In addition, cardholders will receive activation information and a description of MasterCard’s suite of premium benefits and services. Before your card arrives, you will receive a letter letting you know the card is on the way. ATM cards will be reissued during the month of August.
Even though customers will receive new debit cards, debit card PINs will not change. Existing PINs will be retained, meaning less hassle for you, our valued customers.
We recognize that you may have concerns about this transition. We welcome you to contact your local branch or our Customer Support center at 1-888-752-3332 Monday-Friday, 7:30am-6pm MST with any questions you may have.
To activate your card, simply follow the instructions on the sticker on the front of your new MasterCard debit card.
Existing cards will cease to function as soon as you activate your new card or on September 15, 2013 - whichever comes first.
No, your existing VISA debit card is being discontinued, so it will cease to function as soon as you activate your new card or on September 15, 2013, whichever comes first.
If your new debit card is mailed to the incorrect address, please contact your local branch and they can assist you.
After you receive your new card, you must provide your new card number and expiration date to companies (like online service providers, newspapers, or the phone company) that automatically bill your card.
