Community Development

Community Partnerships

One of the ways we proudly show our commitment to our communities is by sponsoring special events, community programs, and by partnering with nonprofit organizations. Our partnerships encompass many types of organizations that support a wide array of community needs. They include business and professional associations, as well as organizations that provide support in the arts, education, and economic development and social services areas.

NeighborWorks Montana

Through a partnership with NeighborWorks Montana, we made them an equity equivalent investment to help leverage their capital so that they could assist qualified borrowers with their down payment and closing costs associated with purchasing a single family home. Borrowers are required to occupy the home as their principal residence for the duration of the loan. Borrower must qualify for a 1st mortgage (FHA/VA/CONV/RD) through a participating lender. We value the relationship we have with NeighborWorks Montana and look forward to continuing our partnership for many years to come.

Rural Dynamics Inc.

The mission of Rural Dynamics, Inc. (RDI) is to provide programs and develop partnerships to help youth, individuals, and families achieve economic independence. They serve a four state region including Montana, Wyoming, North & South Dakota. Programs include Tax Help Montana - they use volunteer's at tax assistance sites (VITA) which offers free tax preparation to low-to-moderate-income individuals and families who cannot prepare, or need help preparing, their own tax returns. They also operate the Consumer Credit Counseling Services in Montana and Wyoming. We support RDI in numerous ways, including First Interstate Bank Foundation funding their Family Economic Center.

Good Shepherd Clinic

The mission of Good Shepherd Clinic provides free primary medical care to those with limited financial resources in the Northern Hills area in South Dakota. The clinic is operated by volunteers. Several of our branches in South Dakota have made a donation to the clinic in 2010.
