Remote VDI Users Must Update Citrix Receiver

To prepare for upcoming enhancements to VDI, remote users will need to update the Citrix Workspace application on their home computers.

While our Information Technology team is doing all they can for you, there are a few steps VDI users working from home will need to complete by the end of the day, Friday, February 5.

What do I need to do?

If you work from home and access our network through VDI on your own personal computer or on a Windows 10 travel laptop provided by First Support, you will have a few simple steps to take to set up the upgrade. You can tell you’re a VDI user if you connect to our network by going to vdi.fib.com in your browser first thing every day.

For remote VDI users to prepare for the update:

  • You will need to update to Citrix Workspace on your out-of-network desktop for the new VDI setup to work. It will not work with Citrix Receiver. Many employees may have already done this.

Do the following on your personal device before logging into VDI. You will not have the ‘check for updates’ option when you are in VDI.

  • Right click on the Citrix icon in the task bar and select "Check for Updates"
  • If you have not yet updated from Receiver to Workspace, follow the update prompts.
  • This will log you out of VDI, and you will need to log back in again once the update is complete.

VDI users who continue to work in the office will not need to do anything to make sure the update to Citrix occurs; this will be pushed through for you.

Users who work from the office or who access our network using a bank provided device from home will not need to do anything.
