What is Extended Validation? / Why is the address bar a different color?

First Interstate Bank now has Extended Validation secure server certificates. The new Extended Validation will trigger new high-security browsers to display a green address bar. With the new browser feature customers can see at a glance that they are on a secure site whether it is logging into Internet Banking or filling out a customer loan application.
