Our first bank was the Bank of Commerce in Sheridan, Wyoming, which opened in 1893 and was purchased by Homer A. Scott, Sr. in 1968. Since that first purchase, we have bought and chartered additional banks in Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota. The Bank has grown successfully and continues to employ quality employees. First Interstate BancSystem, Inc. is a privately held company with members of the Scott family still actively involved in managing the business. Our headquarters is in Billings, Montana.
